A comprehensive 2 day course equipping outdoor professionals and employees in remote/rural areas with the skills and knowledge to respond to a range of emergency outdoor situations when help is more than 30 minutes away. 

 

FAA Level 3 Award in Outdoor First Aid (RQF) (601/8627/6)

Unit 1: Outdoor Emergency Action (K/508/3085)

Unit 2: Outdoor Incident Management (M/508/3086)

 

The qualification meets the Outdoor First Aid Band 3 requirements set by the Institute for Outdoor Learning and the requirements for the first aid element of the expedition syllabus for the bronze, silver and gold Duke of Edinburgh awards.

The assessment is carried out through practical demonstration, oral questioning and a written assessment paper.

2 Day Course (16 classroom contact hours)

Need to be completed within 6 weeks.

Training sessions must last a minimum of two hours each.

Minimum course and workplace age 16

  • Legalities, responsibilities and reporting
  • Control of bleeding
  • Poisoning
  • Asthma
  • Dealing with an unresponsive casualty
  • Shock (including Anaphylaxis)
  • Bandaging
  • Diabetes
  • Fractures and spinal injuries
  • Heart attacks
  • Choking
  • Stroke
  • Resuscitation and AED awareness
  • Head injuries
  • Eye injuries
  • Burns
  • Assessment of the situation
  • Sprains and strains
  • Chest injuries
  • Epilepsy
