A two day course aimed at learners that hold a current First Aid at Work qualification that is due to expire. 

Re-qualification is possible up to 1 month after expiry.  Between 2-3 months, special consideration is required

 

FAA Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (RQF) (603/2081/3)

Unit 1: Emergency First Aid in the Workplace (Y/615/8504)

Unit 2: Recognition and Management of Illness and Injury in the Workplace (M/615/8508)

 

Meet the requirements of Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 and the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1982.

Ongoing Practical assessment by the instructor. 

Written assessment for unit 2

 

3 year qualification

2 Day Course

Minimum 12 hours spread over two consecutive days but can be flexible.

Need to be completed within 6 weeks.

Training sessions must last a minimum of two hours each.

Maximum 12 students

Minimum course age 14

Minimum workplace age 16

A range of subjects are covered including:

  • Legalities, responsibilities and reporting
  • Assessment of the situation
  • Control of bleeding
  • Poisoning
  • Asthma
  • Dealing with an unresponsive casualty
  • Shock (including Anaphylaxis)
  • Bandaging
  • Diabetes
  • Fractures and spinal injuries
  • Heart attacks
  • Choking
  • Stroke
  • Resuscitation and AED awareness
  • Head injuries
  • Eye injuries
  • Burns
  • Sprains and strains
  • Chest injuries
  • Epilepsy

Special consideration for attending a 2-day first aid re-qualification course include a signed letter from the employer explaining the First Aider's experience or a decision made after discussions between the provider & employer/First Aider.
